Since parting ways with the Houston Rockets this past November, things have been rather quiet for Carmelo Anthony. The former All-Star and scoring champion has seemingly been relegated to a shell of his former self on the floor, and is currently unemployed. But new reports claim Melo might sign with a team sooner than later.
Melo only participated in 10 games for the Rockets this season before both parties mutually agreed to part ways. He averaged 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game off the bench during that span, a far cry from the 28.7 PPG he averaged to win the scoring title for the 2012-2013 regular season as a member of the New York Knicks.
Since packing his bags, rumors have occasionally been floating around regarding Anthony’s next destination. Close friend LeBron James said it would “be great” to play with him before that possibility was quickly shut down when it was reported that the Lakers had no interest in signing the former superstar. Melo had also been seen tweeting at Golden State Warriors superstars Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry before later deleting the message, which fueled the narrative of him joining the seemingly unstoppable back-to-back NBA champions.
